I was planning on doing a wee trip in Dec to get back into bike-packing when Fraser told me that he had been diagnosed with MND, of which there is no current cure.
Therefore as I have helped raise funds for various charities in the past, the perfect objective for the planned trip in Dec would be to try and raise some funds for MND Scotland who do a great job in helping folks diagnosed with the disease. And recently the Scottish Government has committed to more funding to help patients and for further research, but we need to do more as this 'horrible' disease is taking away good people from us, of which Fraser is one.
Fraser is the guy who interviewed me for my first 'real' job in IT, and he must of saw something in me, as I landed the job to work with him on his team, where I learnt a great deal, and am truly grateful for that opportunity as I'm still working in the 'industry' today.
Therefore I would like to try and help raise funds for MND Scotland by attempting my wee trek in Dec from Marrakesh in Morocco, to Madrid in Spain, its roughly about 1000 miles, route still to be confirmed.
I have given myself 13 days to complete this as I arrive in Marrakesh on Sat 03 Dec (evening) and then have a flight booked back to Edinburgh from Madrid on Friday 16 Dec at 19:30 so I have a dead-line.
As a wee training warm-up, I'm planning on riding the NC500 self sufficient, getting a train after work to Inverness, so starting on Wed
16 Nov evening and hopefully complete it by Sunday 20 Nov, then work out how to get home!!
