Story
Darius passed away on the 20th of March 2016. The help he and his parents--Omid and Liana got during his battle with a rare form of mitochondrial disease was incredible. It is for this reason we will cycle 40 miles in memory of our little Superman.
For those of you who did'nt have the chance of meeting Darius you were denied the opportunity of meeting the living embodiment of resilience. Darius' two years with us was fraught with hospital visits and increasingly frequent bad news that would shatter the hopes of even the most positive of minds. Every hospital visit would raise more complications with his condition. Yet Darius did not once bemoan the situation he found himself in. Instead any remaining energy he had was put into laughing or attempting to speak the few words that his muscles would allow him. (Hearing him call me amo was undoubtedly one of the proudest moments of my life and a memory I will cherish forever). He was a very bright spark who was always observing. And yet his condition would forbade him from being able to walk or talk despite his tireless efforts. It was these daily battles that made Darius our little superman.
Our superman is unfortunately no longer with us. Yet similar battles are being fought on a daily basis. With help from the hospital we hope that some can win their battles and be the children they dream of becoming.
Please donate whatever you are willing to help the hospital fight for more children.
Thank you,
Mohsen
