Story
There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t think of Charlie Everton – I’ve not come remotely close to meeting anyone like him and I’m certain I never will. He was truly unique, had a captivating presence, and would easily light up the room in any situation. Eloquently spoken, dashingly handsome, effortlessly cool, intelligent and so gracious; he left a heart-filled stamp wherever he went, and he was cherished by all that met him.
Heartbreakingly, Charlie was taken from us too soon, for almost 3 years he heroically battled Neuroendocrine Cancer, and in September 2019 peacefully, at home, he passed away. Throughout that challenging time, Charlie epitomized how to be courageous, how to really live, how to jest, and most importantly, how to love.
Our lives will never be the same without Charlie around, he has a piece of my heart and of so many others that simply cannot be replaced. However, this piece now serves as a memory book of all the special and fun moments we shared and every so often, makes me smile and laugh to myself or with friends.
I’ve decided to honor Charlie’s memory by running the London marathon this April 23rd. We’re all forever thankful for the treatment he received at The Christie Hospital, it prolonged his time with loved ones and allowed him to live his life to the full as comfortably and normally as possible.
The team at The Christie is at the forefront of research, prevention, and care, it is one of the largest cancer treatment centers in Europe. They have a vision of being a leader in cancer care, not only providing the best outcomes and best experience to patients, relatives, carers, and staff but also leading research developments in cancer care nationally and internationally.
It will be a huge honor to run this marathon in memory of Charlie and raise funds for The Christie. I’m fully behind their vision, and hopefully, with the support from your donations, however small or large, it will go towards the dream of one-day eliminating cancer.
Thank you,
Michael x
