Story
Last year the Trussell Trust handed out over 1.3million three day emergency food supplies to people in crisis. 484,026 of these went to children.
The idea of poverty existing in the UK is an uneasy one, but that’s the reality for millions of people living across our country. Since joining the Trussell Trust last November I’ve met the staff and volunteers running food banks who have bowled me over by their positive attitude, their faith and their determination to change things for the better.
In an effort to support them to provide the emergency food and services so desperately needed, I have signed up to take part in the Tour De Trussell, a 126 mile bike ride carried out over two days, travelling between the charity's food banks in Coventry and Salisbury.
I’d be so grateful for your support to help me with this challenge. And please know that for me it will be a challenge! I’ve never taken part in any type of long distance cycling before and am confidently informed by my husband (who does know a thing or two about this) that I’ve got
the wrong bike, the wrong kit and my technique needs work! I promise to overcome these minor obstacles to help the Trussell Trust – and I’d be so thankful for any support you can give to this fantastic charity.
Thank you! Miranda
