Story
This year we are fundraising for BBC Children in Need! We're holding a BBC Children in Need non-uniform on Friday the 19th of November to raise vital funds for children across the UK.
This week is also National Anti-Bullying Week with the theme of ‘One Kind Word’, so this year we are linking our non-uniform day to this theme. Throughout the week the children will be taking part in some age-relevant assemblies and classroom sessions which will culminate in our Children in Need event where our focus for the day will be ‘Together We Can’. This activity consolidates the work the children are currently undertaking in their PSHE lessons about being 'unique' and not judging other people on the way they look.
Therefore, our non-uniform day has the theme ‘I am unique’ where the children can dress to celebrate their uniqueness. They may wear the sports kit of a sport they love to play, they may dress in their favourite style or to wear something that shows their passions or their hobbies, such as their Beavers uniform or wearing an image of their favourite pop star; perhaps they have a cultural costume they’d like to wear or something they’ve brought from a holiday somewhere special… it is completely up to them! On the day, we will find time to talk about their 'uniqueness' using 'kind words' and understanding that although they are all different, 'together' they are the generation that can make the world a better place one step at a time.
