Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I DID IT !!
There were times, many times infact, in both the training (especially the training) and then on the day when I simply thought I couldn't run a marathon.
Exceeding my fundraising target in the week before the race was exactly what I needed to convince me I could and would do it.
I won't lie and say it was pleasant and that I wasn't nervous (extremely nervous) as the day arrived. However, when I waited in Greenwich Park on Sunday morning at 8am I realised I was really doing this and was actually at last excited.
When I turned by Big Ben at mile 25 I felt there was just nothing left in my legs to give. However, the crowds got me through it.
I will never forget the genuine shouts of encouragement from complete strangers, just because of my name printed on a vest. It really did feel as if you were amongst friends the whole way.
So, one last time a very big THANKYOU for believing in me and supporting both me and the NSPCC in the London Marathon 2009.
The NSPCC are always looking for runners for next year.....!!

PS I did it in a respectable 5 hours 40 minutes (target 6 hours), beating Jordan but alas not Gordon !
