Story
Lynne Short's fundraising page for the Big Shave Off.
I attended my first Terrence Higgins Trust event on 1 December 2016, when they held an official evening in the City Chambers and I have been a massive supporter of their work ever since.
The event brought home to me that HIV was in our community – they didn’t discriminate; instead they brought humour, kindness and love.
Since that time I have participated often in events, even suggesting during the pandemic that our Penguins donned THT t-shirts and we dressed in red to not let it pass without reference!
I also take part in their drop in testing – it’s really important, and sexual health testing should be treated the same way as check-ups at the dentist and opticians.
I’m doing my Big Shave Off during a time when many are turned off by squabbling, inward-looking politicians – I’m coming out of my comfort zone to show there are bigger things than individual egos.
Hopefully, doing this will not only raise funds and the profile of Terrence Higgins Trust’s work, but show that there is hope, and love.
Thank you,
Lynne

I'm taking on the Big Shave Off to celebrate 40 years of action against HIV! Terrence Higgins Trust are proud to have been supporting people living with HIV since 1982 - it's always been the heart of what they do. Today we need your support to end new cases of HIV in the UK, and to fight stigma and support those living with HIV. Just £100 could fund 9 HIV self-tests so people can know their status sooner and get the medication and support they need to live healthy lives, 2 months training for 5 THT Direct volunteers to keep our support lines open, or 84 hours of online counselling to support people affected by HIV.
