SUCCESS.  On the 26th January I arrived at the jump site and signed in, along with a lot of young eager boys and girls. I was given a 15 minute training session and then harnessed up by a nice young man, who it turned out was to be my tandem partner.

We were then taken to the aircraft along with 6 other seasoned parachute jumpers. The first 3 leapt out at 5,000ft, then 2 others at 10,000ft and still we climbed higher into the clouds. At 14,462ft it was my turn and as my partner sat on the edge of the open doorway, I dangled into mid air. After the count of 3 we were hurtling down at 142mph and in less than 50 seconds the parachute opened. Silence, it was blissful, I could see the ground along way away. I also saw a circular rainbow on top of the clouds. We were then coming into land at speed but all was ok and we landed safely.

I would like to say a big THANKYOU to all who have helped me exceed my target of £1,500.

P.S. My new hobby will be indoor bowls.
