Lynn's Virtual London Marathon Challenge for the RNIB

It was early in 2018 when my sight loss became life changing. Fortunately, the care, help and support I received from RNIB, amongst others, got me through and I am now in a better place. I have learnt to adapt to doing things differently to enable me to continue to do the things I love, in particular running.
People who know me will know that I have run a couple of marathons before but it was always a goal of mine to do another of the major marathons before I was 50. My loss of vision meant that I was unable to do this.
I have kept my fitness up and am able to run a route from home that I know by heart. Friends and family will guide me and once you have fallen over a speed bump/pot hole once you won’t do it again!
When I received a general email from the RNIB in June about spaces still being available for the virtual London marathon it resonated with me. I know that I cannot race again (too many people/obstacles/unfamiliar route ...) but the virtual marathon meant that I could choose my own route.
I am therefore planning to run from Blackpool south shore to Fleetwood and back. It is going to be tough, it is a long way, I’m getting older, I can’t see... Family & friends will be there supporting me.
Please feel free to donate what you can and if you fancy a trip to the seaside on 3 October then please come along, the more support I have the better!
Thank you
Lynn x
