Story
In 2019 my dad got the diagnosis we had all been expecting, and so wished we were wrong. It was the little things at 1st a bit of a shaky hand, not being as confident, mildly forgetting things and sometimes to not quite hear or understand things going on around him.
When my parents retired like all they were looking forward to the golden years, daily outings wonderful holidays. But Parkinson's unfortunately had other plans.
We are gradually watching this disease take away my dads confidence, his ability to live a normal life, but does he complain, when he needs help putting on a coat, eating his breakfast, lunch and dinner or the frame he has to use to walk or he'll fall over, or the fact he spent 32 yrs as a professional driver but now cant drive nope my dad has never once said why me, he just apologises when it take him a little longer to remember what he wanted to tell you and says "it's a parkinsons thing"
So on the 25th of June my sister and I will be walking 19 miles and in my current state of fitness trust me it will be a challenge , to raise money for Parkinson's UK as you can imagine this is a charity very close to our hearts and as they say at Parkinson's UK
We are Parkinson's UK. Powered by people. Funded by you. Improving life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s. Together we'll find a cure.
And that's my one true wish there has to be a cure out there somewhere and through research they might just be able to find it but like everything there is always a cost involved .
