a whole month (January) without alcohol to get Willow Taylor standing · 1 January 2015
Willow is the daughter of my school friend Fee and partner Paul and sister to their son Arthur and was born HIE Grade iii in August 2012, she was deprived of oxygen for at least 15 minutes due to meconium asphyxiation during labour and subsequently has quad cerebral palsy and global developmental delay.
Willow is partially deaf, non-verbal and visually impaired, she has no swallow so is also 100% tubefed a blended diet. She is also one of the most amazing little girls you will ever encounter, her eyes tell you she understands more than you think and she has no problem communicating her basic needs to those who know her well.
Willow's family have been told that she will need reconstructive hip surgery in a years time, possibly sooner as due to her high tone and spasms, her left hip is not forming correctly.
Their only hope to avoid the surgery is to get her standing more, to get weight through the hip joint and socket and hope that helps. It's not a given but the decision will be made in 6 months time when we next visit her specialist orthopedic surgeon.
Here begins operation Get Willow Standing! They want to employ a private physio to fill the gap between NHS physiotherapy visits and are possibly looking at buying a different standing frame if this can't be provided.
Standing frames are in the region of £3500 to buy new and private physio is £100 per hour.
If they are able to get the frame funded then this money will be in this account to be used for therapy for Willow, including Brainwave reassessments.
I am collecting via Tree of Hope, which means this money can only be used for therapy and equipment and also transport and accommodation for any therapy.
I have been truely inspired by Fee, Willow and her family and really want to do something to support them and their family. I have learnt so much following their journey and its hard to believe what i take for granted and what they have to fight and battle to get for their daughter.
Should we exceed the target amount (or if we do not raise enough funds, or if they cannot be used for any other reason) the funds raised will go to the general funds of Tree of Hope to assist other sick children.
