When Lauchlan was diagnosed as being deaf i was in bits. I went into denial. We longed for this perfect family unit and i personally felt as if that dream had been torn away from me. I felt alone with no one to talk to that had or was going through the same as we were. That was until one day Lauchlans teacher for the deaf in nursery told us about The Listening Bus. We were told the bus had all the latest gadgets for deaf children and we could go along, so along i went. There i met members from WSDCS and other mums of deaf children, since then although sometimes we still find it hard it has been so much easier knowing we have lifelong friends through the charity. I have always wanted to give something back and doing this half marathon to raise money and also awareness is my way of saying thankyou for everything and to help towards the huge cost of weekends away, day events and such likes for other families to enjoy like we have and will continue to have.
