Story
Hello! We are Steph and Lindsey and from 17th-19th September 2015 we are undertaking a HUGE challenge which we hope will generate more awareness of autism - something which is very close to our hearts.
We will be living together inside a 3m x 2m glass box for 50 hours, which will be situated in the foyer of the huge Tesco Extra store in Prescot. As you may know, we both work in the store, and it would be great to have YOUR support!
So WHY are we doing this?
Steph explains - 'As a Mum of an autistic Son, I know first-hand the general lack of understanding and acceptance of the condition in today's society. By living inside the box we will attract a lot of attention and, working with Caudwell Children, we will engage with hundreds of families from across the area and share experiences. Plus my very good friend Lindsey is backing me 100% - so much so that she will be doing the whole 50 hour challenge with me!'
Many families have told Caudwell Children that the box acts as a metaphor for the condition - the isolation, feeling of being trapped and difficulties in communicating are all associated with autism.
Our challenge begins at Noon on Thursday 17th September, and if successful, we will emerge at 2pm on Saturday 19th September - 50 hours later!
Of course we are also fundraising, as we hope to raise money for the charity to support even more autistic children and their families across Prescot. You can donate here, or by text:
LIFA55 £3 / £5 / £10 to 70070
Many thanks and please come and support us in-store!
