Cancer is a dreaded word. One word you wish never to hear. One word that can destroy lives, families and friendships.

I remember the day when my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer like it was yesterday, it was like my world had stopped. I felt numb and vulnerable and I wasn't even the one diagnosed with the disease. Vulnerable at the fact that cancer was trying to take my mum and best friend away from me.
There are more than 100 types of cancer but the one I wish to talk about today is Myeloma Cancer. This strain is a cancer of the plasma cells in bone marrow and makes up your immune system. Unlike other cancers, it does not exist as a lump or a tumour and is hard to detect. It causes bone disease, recurring infections, chronic fatigue and kidney damage. There is currently no cure.

One of my best friends, Lyndsey Flint is a nurse at the Sheffield Hallamshire Hospital and treats patients diagnosed with Myeloma Cancer. Everyday she goes to work helping patients, being supportive, helpful and trying to be a light in their darkest moments.
Lyndsey will soon turn thirty and decided a few weeks ago to challenge herself and to help in the fight against cancer so that eventually this horrible disease can become a thing of the past. As a result she is going to throw herself from a plane to raise money for Cancer Research and as a good friend does, I’m following her!
We are a team of four including Sara Sarah Flint and Natalie Bell; some of us petrified of heights, but all determined to support one another and help do our bit to fight cancer… and we would appreciate all the help we can get!!!
Below is a link included to our Just Giving page - all donations are greatly appreciated and we’ll be doing other things to help raise money between now and the time.
Thank you!
