Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
UPDATE: Thank you so much for your support - I've raised £3000 and reached my target. If it wasn't for your support, I'd not reach my target, so thank you and you're all stars! Much appreciated, thank you. Lydia.
I have been selected to represent the Great Britain Deaf Women's Football Team to play at the 2009 Deaflympics in Taiwan this September, 5-15th September, and bring a gold medal home! In the last Deaflympics in 2005, I was part of Great Britain Deaf Women's Football Team winning a Bronze medal after defeating Denmark 2-1.
Unfortunately, unlike many British Olympic and Paralympic athletes, despite our Bronze medal win, we footballers and in fact all Britain's deaf athletes receive no form of aid from the Government for training and there is no funding whatsoever to enable their participation at the Games. Each footballer is faced with a daunting financial hurdle of raising £3,000. We are now fundraising to enable the GB Football team to have the opportunity to compete.
From now to September, I'll do lots of fundraising events such as walking over three peaks, cycling, selling lots of old things at Car Boot Sales etc. I will keep you posted.
Please will you sponsor me!
Lydia Docker.
