Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In March I will be running the Silverston Half Marathon.  Due to a family tragedy last year, I have chosen to run the 13.1 miles in aid of Glencoe Mountain rescue.

Glencoe Mountain Rescue has provided free emergency service for many years and receive limited financial support. Currently they receive funding from Scottish Government and Northern Constabulary this comes to around £26,000, the team costs over the last year alone comes to £61,000. The difference therefore has to be made from public donations so any amount raised would be put to good use. The team have recently ordered a new mini defib which is so light it could be carried in a jacket pocket and will allow rescuers to get a potentially lifesaving piece of kit to a casualty more quickly this will cost £2,300. At the other end of the scale climbing equipment, ropes etc are replaced on a regular basis and these start at a few pounds.  The team would not be able to carry out such skilled work without the support of the public.  I would love to reach my target of £250 in the hope that this could contribute to helping the Glencoe Mountain rescue team carry out such an important job. Any amount donated to be gratefully received!

Thank you,

Lydia
