Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Initially when the girls and I started talking about doing the triathlon we were just going to take part for fun (yes for fun!) but after hearing about the heartbreaking passing of 18 year old event rider Hannah Francis on 1st August Kat (who used to event herself) came up with the great idea of using the triathlon to help raise some money for Hannah's Willberry the Wonder Pony a charity focusing on bone cancer research and granting horsey wishes to those with serious illnesses.

Those of you from the horsey community I'm sure have followed Hannah's journey from her diagnosis following a fall to her final days, her sad yet inspirational story has radiated around the world and caught the attention of so many people consequently allowing Hannah to experience some amazing adventures and make her dreams a reality. In June she admitted her fear of being forgotten when she inevitably lost her battle - which prompted a social media hashtag #inspiredbyhannah to trend nationwide, with the likes of Olympic riders William Fox-Pitt, Laura Collett and Bettina Hoy spreading the message, we've also been inspired by Hannah.

We will swim (800m), cycle (40km) and run (8km) our socks off on September 24th in memory of this incredible young sportswoman. Although we understand that this charity is fundamentally based on equestrianism, our triathlon team was bought together by the sport of eventing. All those years ago when Kat and I were aspiring young horsewomen at OS&B Pony Club who knew we would be training for this 10 years later.

The triathlon will take place on 24th September - the event is open to spectators so please come along on the day to support us and be #inspiredbyhannah too.

Thanks,

The Lush Puppies xx
