Story
Last year I was diagnosed with cancer and went through two operations with several weeks of radiotherapy and have been lucky enough to have made a decent recovery with just a little leaking lymph to sort out.
Tonight, I realised I have 20 days until the anniversary of my first operation (which coincides with the day after my birthday) so have decided on the spur of the moment to try to raise some money for a wonderful cause.
I now hike regularly over Lantau for my health and intend to try to run one of my favourite routes for the first time. It is 10km up and over the hills.
My goal is to run 10km over the HK hills in 63 minutes from Tung Chung in North Lantau over the Olympic Trail to Mui Wo on South Lantau.
Why 63 minutes? Well, I was born in '63 and it also gives me an extra 3mins to try to read the finishing line. :) It's probably an unattainable target, esp with only 20 days to prepare... but what the heck, life is short!
So the run is to raise money for the wonderful people at Marie Curie Hospice in Edinburgh who took such wonderful care of my dad also called Andrew (& hence the title of this page).
I am not asking for people to contribute much - especially in these difficult times - but if you wish to donate a couple of quid or a fiver, it would be lovely. If not possible then please support by liking some of the posts I will be doing and most importantly please help keep me sober until after the event!. ;) :D All donations go directly to Marie Curie.
The Marie Curie Hospice is a warm welcoming place, supporting people and their loved ones with expert care, every day of the year. The doctors and nurses provided such compassionate care for my dad it really made such a difference to him.
So if you can help, thank you for supporting Marie Curie, and helping to make sure more people with a terminal illness and their families continue to get the care and support they need.
Thank you for reading this so far and any support you can offer is really appreciated.
