Story

* Sadly Event cancelled as not viable but thank you to all who have donated so far, it means a lot.

Thanks for visitng our page. Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (APF) is a growing community of patients, families, researchers and healthcare professionals striving to find a cure for pulmonary fibrosis so that everyone affected by the disease has a better future. They provide personalised support to patient and families - and raise awareness of pulmonary fibrosis through campaigning, fundraising and education. They are also committed to funding research to improve the quality of life for people living with pulmonary fibrosis today and tomorrow.

Raising awareness and fundraising for a cure of progressive lung scarring is close to our hearts having lived with and cared for mum while she suffered with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis right until the end when it killed her at just 66 August 2020. She was always active and never smoked. There are thousands of people incredibly frightened every day as we were and don't want anyone else to go through the traumatic experience we have had, feeling totally helpless. There is no cure, only 2 drugs may slow progression but not available to all. Lung transplant is unsuitable for many. As scarring progresses it becomes harder to eat, drink, move, talk, breathe and necessary to wear nasal tubing or mask connected to oxygen all of the time even in bed which means you become housebound and eventually bed bound.

Why not join in our event with bestselling author and historian Alison Weir talking about her new book, 'Elizabeth of York: The Last White Rose' . Elizabeth of York: The Last White Rose

The spellbinding story of Elizabeth of York, the first Tudor queen.
An English Princess, born into a war between two families. Eldest daughter of the royal House of York, Elizabeth dreams of a crown to call her own. But when her beloved father, King Edward, dies
suddenly, her destiny is rewritten.
Her family's enemies close in. Two young princes are murdered in the Tower. Then her uncle seizes power - and vows to make Elizabeth his queen.
But another claimant seeks the throne, the upstart son of the rival royal House of Lancaster. Marriage to this Henry Tudor would unite the white rose of York and the red of Lancaster - and change everything. A great new age awaits. Now Elizabeth must choose her allies - and husband - wisely, and fight for her right to rule.
