Story
I am abseiling off Fair Head on the 26th March, to raise money for cats protection, in memory of my wee mate Luna and to raise awareness of how great adopting an older cat can be.
I adopted Luna from cats protection in 2017, after she was found as a stray with her two kittens. Luna was in the shelter for almost a year, as people are less likely to adopt an older cat with health conditions. But I am so, so glad I did! Our daily routine began with her demanding breakfast (she had a smoker's meow which was particularly hard to ignore), promptly followed by cuddles in bed with my morning coffee. Luna loved to ruthlessly stalk and murder unsuspecting leaves in the back garden, finding them easier to kill than real life-moving targets. Food was her greatest joy in life (something I strongly identify with), and from about 2pm she would try to persuade me it was dinner time. I usually managed to resist until half three, meaning Luna almost always managed to argue for second dinner before bed. Needless to say Luna was a little pudge, but the more she was put on the diet - the more she refused to move to conserve vital calories. She was the best wee bud for the 6 years I had her, which would not have been possible without the work of cats protection, and so I want to fundraise for cats protection to raise awareness of how adopting an older cat can be so rewarding. Any donations, no matter how small, are greatly appreciated!
If anyone would like to come along to laugh at my screams as I'm hurtled off a cliff, you are very welcome.
All of the proceeds will go directly to Cats Protection, I will cover the costs of the abseil myself.
