How far is it? 21 miles as the crow flies but more like 26 miles when you take into account the tides.

How long will it take? 14-20 hours

What will the water temperature be? 15-16 degrees C (59 degrees F)

What will it be like? The swim is very weather dependent. The sea may be like a mill-pond or there could be 6 ft plus waves. Nasties include jelly fish, seaweed and unimaginable flotsam and jetsam! Dodging the 600 tankers and 200 ferries etc. which use this stretch of water each day will keep the safety boat busy.

Why do it? Apart from raising money for two worthy causes, I've always had a desire to attempt this ultimate long distance challenge and thought I better have a go now before I become any more ancient!

Will I make it? I will do my best! However I would appreciate donations going through on a "sink or swim" basis!
