Luke's London Marathon for Leukaemia Care

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
I've been pretty private about this online previously but in October 2022 I was diagnosed with a rare presentation of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. Essentially, I had an aggressive tumour slowly displacing my right eye. Not ideal.
7 months of intensive chemotherapy put me through the ringer. 5 weeks at a time confined in a hospital room as I had no immune system, temporary sight loss due to bleeding behind the eye and a week in intensive care thrown in for good measure, safe to say my body was knackered. I couldn't walk back from the supermarket without needing a lie down. But thankfully in May 2023 it was cancer free!
1.5 years later I'm ready to give a big middle finger to cancer and am now privileged to be in a position to take on the London Marathon in 2025! I'm delighted to do this in aid of Leukaemia Care - the UK's leading Leukaemia charity! From day 1 the charity helped me through the scariest 7 months of my life. I am immensely grateful to them along with my friends and family for their advice and unwavering support.
From hospital, I watched the 2023 London Marathon whilst getting my final bag of chemo where I told my nurse that I'm going to run that one day. It's happening in 2025!
If you would like to, I'd be extremely thankful for donations to support Leukaemia care and the work that they do to support those like me. If you are unable to donate but would like to help please share and/or donate blood if you can. Thank you!
