Story
Coast to Coast cycle – September 11th to 13th 2022 Our good friend Ian passed away in September last year at the age of 50 from a Brain Tumour. Ian was a husband to Rachel, a father to Naomi & Luke, a brother to David, a son to Michael & Betty and a good friend to many. Sadly we all know of people who have had brain tumours. Ian worked as Principal Test Engineer for the ZF Group and was a deacon at Shirley Baptist Church. Ian a keen cyclist who rode to work every day in his shorts wanted at some point to cycle the ‘Coast to Coast’, from Whitehaven to Newcastle upon Tyne. We have decided to take up the challenge in his memory. As Ian passed away from a brain tumour and because he was a scientist at heart we decide to try and raise money for the ‘Brain Tumour Research’. A charity who focuses on research. ‘Scientists at our dedicated UK Research Centres are working tirelessly to gain a deeper understanding of brain tumours to get closer to a cure’. It costs £2740 a day to run one of their research centres. Let’s see if we can raise enough money to run 2 days of research. Sadly we all know of people who have had brain tumours. Let’s see if we can help more people survive them. We would all be grateful of your support. Our group consists of David (Ian’s brother), Luke (Ian’s son), Rob (Ian’s best man), John ( a friend of David’s) and Jonathan and Tim (friends from Shirley Baptist church). We will be supported by Andrew and Alan friends from Shirley Baptist church. For further information please take a look at their web site www.braintumourresearch.org.
