Story

The following are extracts wrote by my best friend in a school essay three years ago, the person that has inspired me to do this, who's gran suffers from Alzheimers. Please take a moment to read.

' The worst feeling in the world has to be looking into someone’s eyes, someone who means the world to you. You once meant the world to them too. They would do anything and everything for you. Your time with them meant a lot and they made you want to be the best person you could be. You will hold their hand and sit by their bed because they deserve you to comfort them. They look at you scared and confused and it breaks your heart.'

'Some people’s grand parents die when they are quite young. My gran is alive but it is almost worse  with the way she is just now. She lies in her bed all day unable to move, the woman who was once so independent. She looks so confused, the woman who once fixed all my problems and finally the woman who was once so brave and strong looks frightened. My gran doesn’t deserve to have Alzheimers.'

'I can’t possibly imagine how it feels for my grampa to watch his soul mate and wife forget him and there’s nothing he can do about it. As the months passed at the early stages of my grans disease my grampa had to be the confused one when my gran couldn’t find her purse. The worried one when she never remembered where she had put her things and now the lonely husband who sits all day, everyday with the woman who he has loved practically all his life. The one who means the world to him. He sits and watches her turn unhealthily thin, looking unhappy and lost. She was never unhappy before, she was amazing.'

'A disease has taken my gran away from us. I hope they find a cure soon so that other people and their families will not have to go through such a horrible thing.  My gran deserves a good retirement. She deserves all her friends to come and see her now that she is unwell. She deserves all the love, help and support she gave throughout her life. She deserves to watch her family grow up, to be with her husband,

She will have none of these things.'

Every donation contributes towards finding a cure  for this disease. Any amount contributed no matter how small will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!
