Story
Here we go again. After vowing last year I would never do this again while I hobbled off the finishing line at Balloch...I've signed up to do ANOTHER Mighty Stride for Kidney Research UK.
22.6 miles from Glasgow to Balloch to raise money for Kidney Research UK. As many of you will know, this charity is very close to my heart...or kidney rather. I've had my transplant almost 9 years now and it is truly the most life changing thing that has happened to me.
It has given me freedom to travel, the energy to enjoy life and time away from the dialysis machine. Despite this, transplants come with a host of risks and limitations, highlighted in recent years with isolating for months at a time, ending up in hospital due to covid, and countless checkups at clinics. Now as my transplant fails, and I'm preparing for dialysis again, I thought I'd give the Kiltwalk another bash. Again, a stark reminder that a transplant isn't a cure, but another treatment.
Kidney Research UK strives to make transplants more successful, the risks and limitations less and prevent long term kidney damage. Please dig deep to give whatever you can to help with the ongoing research. Thank you 🙏🏻
