Story
On the 28th August 2021 I'll be running the 45 mile Green Man Ultra in under 12 hours, raising money for Special Effect.
They are a fantastic charity that improve the quality of life for those with physical disabilities by helping them play video games. Their work is crucial in providing hardware, tools & resources to ensure entertainment is accessible whilst bringing fun and inclusivity to all.
As for me; this is the first Ultra event I'll have ever done, and the further I've ever attempted to run by a long margin!
The Green Man follows the Avon Community Forest Path, starting just below Ashton Court then going to The Downs, Shirehampton, Easter Compton, Bradley Stoke, Winterbourne, Keynsham, Pensford, Dundry & Long Ashton, encircling Bristol for a total of 45 miles (72km) with a cut off time of 12 hours.
You can see my training sessions on the lead up to the event in the JustGiving feed under this message.
Below you can read more about some of the amazing work Special Effect have done in the past:
- Helping Ceyda, a 9 year old with cerebral palsy, enjoy Disney Infinity with her own custom setup: https://www.specialeffect.org.uk/activities/ceyda
- Identifying how Corey, a 7 year old with hemiplegia on his left side, could play with just his right hand https://www.specialeffect.org.uk/activities/corey
- Working with Aaron, a 15 year old with muscular dystrophy, to create a rig that works with his condition https://www.specialeffect.org.uk/activities/aarons-gaming-again
