Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This page is set-up to raise funds for the research into Alzheimer's & Dementia.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity, dedicated to causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure. From the South Coast to Scotland, Alzheimer’s Research UK is bringing together more than 2,000 scientists from 47 different universities and research institutions across the UK into 15 virtual centres of scientific excellence.

In 2014 my grandmother Audrey was diagnosed with dementia. Following my grandad's hospitalisation, my grandmother moved in with my family full time and I witnessed first-hand the difficulties associated with caring for someone with this disease. She sadly passed away in 2020 and I am looking to raise money to help aid and hopefully in the long term cure such an illness.

On 23rd April 2023, I will be running my first ever marathon in her memory and am looking to raise a total of £2,200.00 for Alzheimer's Research UK. In August 2022, I took part in my first endurance event- the London Triathlon and completed it in 2:31. I'm looking forward to pushing myself even further with the aim of going sub 4 hours and raising as much money as possible.

More than half of UK adults know someone who has been diagnosed with dementia and therefore any donations would be much appreciated.
