2022 Wordsworth Challenge (8 Peaks in 14 Hours) · 18 June 2022 ·

Since 2001, we have undertaken challenges and fund raising events to raise funds towards helping those who are diagnosed with cancer. The funds are used to finance projects where funding is not available via the NHS or other public bodies. To date we have raised over £719,000 helping 89 projects.

Story

For the challenge, we have to walk/climb 8 mountains in 14 hours, which involves getting up very early for an early start at 2am and climbing the first two mountains in the dark.

It is Brown Dog’s hardest challenge that offers some of the most breath-taking and beautiful scenery in the UK. The mountains include Scar Fell Pike which is the highest mountain in England.

We are aiming to raise £30,000 to purchase an “Ultrathin Transnasal Endoscope” for the Leicester Hospitals Trust which will be used to improve the early detection of cancer.

Transnasal Endoscopy is a new technique that will enhance patient experience, improve the procedural efficiency and reduce NHS costs.
