Story
On the 28th November 2020 my dad Paul, took his own life after battling depression for many years. As well as my dad, he was my best friend. He showed me endless love and support in everything I did. He helped and guided me with my own battles with mental health over the years. He taught me how to manage worry, fear, sadness, and all those other excessive feelings that can work their way into daily life and become so debilitating for some.
Unfortunately he was unable to save himself, and as a family we were only able to do so much. Despite all the love and reassurances we showed him, his illness created a barrier which cruelly prevented him from seeing and understanding any of it. If my dad had received the professional support he so badly needed, then maybe things may have been different.
On April 3rd 2022 I will be taking part in the Manchester Marathon, and running on behalf of my dad. If you're reading this and you can spare just a couple of pounds - it would mean so much to me if you could make a donation to Mind Manchester. Whatever the amount. Everything you donate goes to a wonderful cause...
Manchester Mind is an independent, local charity, which supports over 6,500 children, young people and adults each year. We believe that everyone deserves to be supported in their mental health needs and we have a part to play in that. Our charity values the commitment of our staff and volunteers, who work hard to ensure services are delivered in a way that enables people to feel heard and involved. Donations and help from our fantastic supporters make a real difference, so thank you for being part of our success this year.
I'm not operating on many/any social media channels these days, and I feel like this is an example of how it can be rather beneficial - so If you could share this page with others too, that would also be really lovely!
Thank you very much!
Luke :)
