Story
Big Kids 4 Bibs are a mixed group of friends raising money for the charity BIBS which funds Buscot ward, the special care baby unit for the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
In November 2010 a colleague of mine (Chris Rich) had a daughter (Bethany) who was born three months premature because she had wrapped the cord around her neck twice and partially pulled the Placenta away. She had a brain haemorrhage and respiratory problems as well as other serious complications, but thanks to 10 weeks on Buscot ward she pulled through. Whilst Chris was there some Babies had to be transferred to larger Hospitals as Buscot simply didn’t have the equipment required to care for these Babies. It costs £1,500.00 a day to keep a baby on an intensive care Ward like Buscot, and with the current financial climate finding money to buy new equipment is nigh on impossible. This is where BIBS come in. They are currently trying to raise enough money to buy a new intensive care Incubator and Big Kids 4 Bibs want to help make this happen. If you’re anything like Chris, you go along with blinkers on expecting the Birth to be fine. It absolutely never crossed his mind that something like what happened with Bethany was a possibility. This really is something that can happen to any new parents. So please help.
This weekend 18th/19th June, we’re all battling through rain, sweat and tears to complete the 3 peaks challenge. Hopefully within 24 hours, otherwise I’ll be late for work on Monday morning!! We’ll be sure to take plenty of photos along the journey which will be posted on FB for all to enjoy.
Please dig deep, including down the back of the sofa as every penny of every donation counts towards this fantastic cause.
