CHILD CANCER 😞

Just this month my 10 month old baby nephew Ace got diagnosed with cancer.

Ace has a large wilms tumour on his kidney.

It’s been an horrendous couple weeks for the whole family with all the uncertainties.

One amazing thing though from the moment my brother and sister in law was referred to Leeds hospital was the love and support of candlelighters charity.

An amazing charity who provide unbelievable support to the families with a child with cancer.

That support is going to be ongoing for a long time for Ace and the family as Ace has just started his chemotherapy.

Surgery will follow to remove the tumour and his kidney, just before his 1st birthday.

Me and a good friend have come together and want to raise and vital awareness of this amazing charity…

We are being joined by more amazing friends for different legs of our challenge.

In Yorkshire alone there are 150 children diagnosed with cancer every year 😞

Charities like candlelighters are vital and a crutch to families like mine to help them through such uncertain times and the support they offer really is first class.

We have taken up their challenge of 150 miles across September but we have decided to make the challenge very challenging shall we say…

We will be setting off from Halifax cycling 51 miles to the Yorkshire dales then running a lap of the Yorkshire 3 peaks 24 miles… (75 miles)

We will then have a short sleep awake early to run another lap of the Yorkshire 3 peaks and then straight back on the bikes for a very hilly ride home… (75 miles)

Anyone whose walked one lap will know just how tough the Yorkshire 3 peaks are so to run them twice over two days after cycling 51 hilly miles and then have to cycle another 51 miles hilly is going to be brutal.

It’s going to be a very very tough challenge but the cause is certainly worth it!
