Story

Vuba is taking on an almighty challenge in 2022. This consists of 6 events, across the 6 months of February to July. All in the name of charity.

In February, Vuba will conquer the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, in under 12 hours. The 25-mile circular route is popular amongst avid hikers & challenge seekers. Not only will distance be a test, but the winter weather could prove challenging! (12th February 2022)

In March, we will take part in a Give Back day. This will mean that all of us offer our time to Dove House Hospice. This could mean that we are out and about in the local region collecting furniture donations on behalf of the charity. We could be helping in the retail outlets, we may even be helping the guys out over at Humber Wood. This will be a great opportunity to see what life at the charity is really like!

In April, Vuba will run the Lake Garda half marathon. The half marathon starts in the picturesque town of Arco, about 5km north of the Lake, and ends in Malcesine on the east side of Lake Garda. Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy and is renowned as one of the most beautiful locations in Europe. We will push ourselves to run 21km along the Lake. (4th April 2022)

In May, we will be running the Barcelona marathon. The Barcelona marathon is said to be the most magical and complete marathon in the world. It is urban, scenic, fast, lively and monumental. We will run just over 26 miles through landmarks such as Camp Nou, Sagrada Família and Casa Batlló . (8th May 2022)

In June, Vuba will be doing a tandem skydive. This will mean jumping out of a plane at around 10,000ft and hitting speeds of roughly 300kmh whilst we make our descent back to ground level. This will be an exhilarating experience for us, and we can’t wait to do this in the name of charity.

In July, we will be taking part in the Yorkshire Tough Mudder 10k. The course is packed full with 20 obstacles such as Everest, Mudderhorn and Shawshanked. It is the perfect mix of distance and challenge, even for those who aren’t all that experienced with assault courses! (31st July 2022)

About Dove House

Dove House is the only adult hospice in the Hull & East Riding area and has provided vital end of life care for over 40 years. In addition to offering this specialist care, the hospice provides a wide range of vital services including Rehabilitation for Wellbeing, Carers Wellbeing Days, Pain & Symptom Management, Complimentary Therapies, Bereavement support, and Respite Care. Patients, carers and loved ones are supported from the point of diagnosis onwards, and are at the heart of everything the hospice does.

This support means embracing patients and families with warmth, understanding and compassion from the point of diagnosis onwards. Although this care is free to patients, it is not free to provide. With available funding covering just 43 days running costs, Dove House relies on the generosity of the general public to provide the remaining 322 days, allowing the care teams at the hospice to be on hand 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
