Story
In 2019 I am cycling (supported) from Cairo to Cape Town, a distance of 11 000km over 4 months. I will be averaging 80 miles a day, 6 days a week, across desert, mountain and (potholed) road, through 10 countries, camping almost every night. Lots of training and organisation is going into this expedition, but anything can happen whilst I am there.
Please sponsor me to help raise money for Mission Rabies, a charity close to my heart. Rabies is a terrible disease, affecting humans and animals. Once symptoms show, it is 100% fatal. That's right, RABIES IS THE MOST FATAL DISEASE OUT THERE- AND IT IS 100% PREVENTABLE. Yet every year an estimated 59000 people die of rabies across the world (one person every 9 minutes)- the majority of these deaths are children.
In Britain we are so lucky not to have to worry about this disease, but in 2013 and 2014 in India I saw firsthand rabies cases and the effects of this horrible disease. (The charity are now working in Tanzania, Malawi and Uganda, as well as Asia.)
But there is good news- Mission Rabies is part of a concerted effort to reduce human rabies deaths to 0 by 2030. Please donate to help fund this ambitious target and help both human and animals from needless suffering and death.
