Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have accepted the challenge to trek 100km in August 2020 across the south coast of England within 24 hours. The challenge will begin in Eastbourne, moving through Beachy Head at 162m above sea level. It will then head through Brighton, Devils Dyke and up into the historic town of Arundel along the winding river Arun, where the finish line awaits! It will be physically and mentally exhausting, but I am looking forward to taking on the challenge.

I have pledged to raise £750 for my company’s corporate charity Dementia UK whilst undertaking the challenge. Please could you help me achieve my target?

I came to the funeral profession late in life. I was inspired to consider it after the care my family received when we suddenly lost my dad in 2018 - I had always wanted to do a role that really made a difference to people's lives, and yet still challenged my mind. The combination of the empathy and care required along with the meticulous organisation skills and the ability to stay one step ahead at all times is what drew me to the role. I begin in the profession as a Driver/Bearer just over a year ago, and very soon knew that I had found the profession I wanted to remain in for the rest of my life. It is an honour and a privilege to go to work every day and to be trusted to care for families and their loved ones.

Sadly I see a lot of families who have either lost a loved one with Dementia, or who are trying to help someone with Dementia process the loss of a loved one. Dementia UK are our corporate charity, and I am proud to support their excellent work.
