Story
This time one year ago, the day before my 36th birthday, we were given the devastating news that I had breast cancer. Archie, the youngest of our three children was only 9 months old at the time and we were only just adjusting to me going back to work as a GP after maternity leave. Life changed overnight and we began a daunting trip along the road of a cancer journey.
But thanks to the overwhelming help and support we received from our amazing friends and family we have made it through to the other side, feeling stronger, more positive and more appreciative of being alive.
So now twelve months on, with the surgery, genetic testing and radiotherapy behind us, we wanted to do something memorable to celebrate how fortunate we have been.
Whilst a breast cancer charity would seem the obvious choice to run for, we decided that we wanted to raise money for a charity that we felt was even more deserving of our efforts and money. As an adult who has experienced the difficulties of a cancer diagnosis I can only imagine how much more frightening that must be for a child and their family.
So on April 22nd 2018, Pete and I will be lacing up our trainers ready to pound the streets of London in our fancy dress. Please support us in this huge challenge and help us to raise as much money as we can for this worthy cause. Every penny counts, so however small your donation we are incredibly grateful and are looking forward to facing this together.
Huge thanks in advance!
Lucy and Pete xx
