The Blue Cross helps over 40,000 pets every year, who find themselves in need through no fault of their own. Their vision is that every pet will enjoy a healthy life in a happy home, and by 2020 they want to be able to help 70,000 animals each year but they can't do this without our help. 

The work of the Blue Cross goes beyond just food and shelter for these animals in need;

• they provide routine and emergency health care, through dedicated veterinary hospitals and local veterinary practices 
• they provide safety to cats that would otherwise be stray on the street, 
• they provide training to help dogs understand how to better fit in with the humans they live with,

And on top of helping the pets, they also help us. Blue Cross provides education and support to help us;

• understand the pets we live with, meaning that we can enjoy a happy, healthy life together, 
• understand the responsibilities that come with our pets,
• come to terms with the loss of a loved family pet, no matter how long or short the period they were with us. 

Myself and all of team Piece of Cake are training hard for the Wye Valley challenge! We know it won't be as easy as our name suggests but we do love cake, and knowing that we will have earned our cake at the finish line will drive us on! 

Our pets give us so much, and Blue Cross do all that they can to ensure that those without homes continue to get what they need: 40,000 of them, every year and rising. Will you help us to help them?
