Story
It’s a human right to have a roof over your head and feel safe,
yet sadly there are still so many people sleeping on the street in the freezing cold.
I was born and raised in Brighton and over the years I have noticed the rapid increase of homeless people in the city. It's heart breaking to see so many vulnerable young people who battle with physical and mental health problems as well as fighting the cold and threats from sleeping rough.
The Clock Tower Sanctuary is a small, local and independent charity who offer support, advice and guidance to help young people
break away from homelessness and progress towards a brighter future.
I am lucky enough to have a loving home, warm bed and support network of family and friends, but sadly not everyone is, and they need our help. On the 16th of December I will be braving the extreme cold on the terraces at the i360 on Brighton seafront to raise money and awareness for such an important cause. Please donate anything, big or small and help me reach my goal.
By supporting the work of The Clock Tower Sanctuary, you will be helping to change the lives of people just like Josh, 23 who first arrived at our day-centre with only a rucksack on his back, having slept rough on Brighton beach for the previous few nights. Josh's upbringing was chaotic and over time his home environment deteriorated to the point he could no longer stay. Josh visited our day centre daily, working with a volunteer case worker. He was provided with a mobile phone, so he was contactable, we helped him with benefit issues, supported him at housing meetings and with building his CV. With this guidance, Josh was able to find a job at a local community kitchen and with this steady employment, could secure a room at a new housing trust. I feel like Ive found a career I can now train in, rather than moving between cash in hand jobs. The Clock Tower Sanctuary believed in me and that feeling is priceless. Josh, 23 years old
