Story
Alzheimer’s is something that impacts many of our lives, including my own. As many of you know, my amazing Grandad, Malcolm, passed away in July 2020 after suffering with Alzheimer’s.
Our Grandad was so full of life, a successful business man with the kindest heart. He was the most supportive, generous, funny and loving husband, father and grandfather. This cruel disease took this wonderful man from our family too early, as Alzheimer’s has done so with countless other families and therefore, we must take action to fund more research into, and provide more support to those individuals with, Alzheimer’s and support for their families.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice. Therefore, on Sunday October 8th 2023 I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Alzheimer’s Society in memory of my wonderful Grandad Malcolm.
In addition to raising money and awareness for this extremely important cause and running in memory of my amazing Grandad , this will also be a significant personal challenge and milestone for me. I was diagnosed with Long Covid at the end of 2020 resulting in damage to my lungs and heart. Now over 2 years on, I would love this half marathon to signify how far I’ve come and I hope that completing the Royal Parks Half Marathon will make my Grandad and my loved ones proud.
I really appreciate how tough things are for so many people at the moment financially so anything you can spare to donate would be very greatly appreciated. All donations will go directly to Alzheimer’s Society to support the incredible work they do.
