Story
We lost my Grandma Nancy Kate Pearson on the 25th of Febuary 2013 just 6 days after her 90th Birthday.
My Grandma battled with Alzheimers for over 10 years and though it was very difficult my Mum and her sisters were able to keep her at home surrounded by her family due to the help and support they received from the Alzheimers Society. I am so proud of my Mum and my Aunties for the fantastic efforts they went to, in trying to keep my grandma's life and surroundings as normal as possible right up untill the end. it meant that we as grandchildren were able to help care for her and spend as much time as we wanted with her in the house that we shared so many beautiful memories of her.
My Grandma passed away peacefully in the early evening of Monday 25th of Febuary surounded by her family.
This was our aim, that she would be able to pass away in the same house that she raised her family and lived most of her life and it was beacuse of the massive effort of her children and the help they received that this became possible.
I am doing this walk as i would now like to give back to help other families receive the help and support they need to do the same.
Please dig deep for this cause and allow others like my grandma to pass away on their own terms, in their own surrounds, with their loved ones.
I am not big on excercise at all or walking for that matter, but should i raise over 100.00 myself i will attempt to walk the full 15 miles.
Thank you.
God Bless.
