Story

You have not lived until you do something for someone who can never repay you”

This is the message that popped up on my phone the day I received an email about taking part in a charity event to raise money for WAGs, a charity that supports retired police dogs.

You must have seen a police dog on TV, at football games or at protests but they also do amazing things like hunt down the people and things that hurt us most and find people in their time of need.

So in order to help these hardworking dogs, I've decided to be brave and, on the 20th August, I will be travelling bottom-first down the Bridewell Police Station, in my first ever abseil.

These fabulous, old pooches deserve a fabulous, long retirement with endless supplies of their favourite ball, so if you can donate a little something it would be much appreciated by the puppers and, of course, by me.

About the charity

WAGS (Wiltshire, Avon, Gloucestershire, Somerset) Retired Police Dog Charity purpose is animal welfare. We want to ensure no retired police dog is ever euthanised due to lack of financial means by their new owners. WAGs was set up to help these beneficiaries (the handlers and members of the pubic who take on looking after the retired police dogs) with the cost of life saving veterinary treatment to ensure the retired police dogs can be given the veterinary treatment they require to allow them to lead a happy healthy retirement after they have served the public for years as police dogs. Your donations are extremely important to us and we are very grateful for your generosity.
