Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
No Police Officer should ever go to work and not come home, but on 10th October 1998, Warwickshire Police Officer, PC Stuart Ross, aged just 34yrs was killed while observer in a police helicopter, which crashed in woodland near Market Bosworth. The helicopter was making its way to an incident at Stratford Upon Avon. Stuart lived in Towcester, Northnants with his wife, Brenda and step-daughter. Stuart had been on secondment with the Air Support Unit for three years but had spent most of his career in Rugby where he worked as a traffic officer.
All members of the police family feel the loss of colleagues and it is really important that we support those that they leave behind. This cycle ride is for all officers that have died on duty. Charities such as Care of Police Survivors (COPS) are really important at providing care and support to the officer's wider family and so I am delighted to be cycling with a team of colleagues from Warwickshire, West Mercia, West Midlands and Staffordshire - The West Midlands Chapter - to raise money for COPS.
The cycle ride will start at West Mercia Police HQ, Hindlip, Worcester on Friday 30 July 21 and finish at the National Arboretum in Staffordshire on Sunday 1st August 21 where a service will be held in memory of those colleagues who have died. We will be joined by families and friends of fallen colleagues. During the ride I will wear a bracelet in the name of an officer, and at the end of the ride, I hope to hand over to their family.
Thank you so much for your support and kind donations in memory of those officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and in support of their families and the COPS charity.

The Police Unity Tour is a long-distance cycle ride undertaken by hundreds of police officers across the UK. The primary purpose of the Police Unity Tour is to raise awareness of Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty. The secondary purpose of the UK tour is to raise funds for Care of Police Survivors, a UK charity dedicated to helping the families of police officers and police staff who have lost their lives on duty. The cyclists will finish their journey at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, where a Service of Remembrance is being held by COPS for their fallen friends and colleagues.
