On 24th August, I will be climbing Ben Nevis WITH MY CELLO!! (to play at the top) in order to raise money for Rape Crisis.
Approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men in England & Wales are raped each year and the support that Rape Crisis provides at the time of the assault and the ongoing support available after is an invaluable resource for victims.
A year ago, I was unfortunate enough to be added to this large group of people when I was raped on June 15th 2017. The support and care that Rape Crisis provided at the time of the attack helped me through the traumatic procedures after, as well as being a support for the long-term effects that sexual assault has.
I have made the decision to take my power back. To stop feeling ashamed and embarrassed of being raped. Instead, I am proud of the fact that I have survived a sexual assault and am now able to share my story in order to help others and to raise awareness.
Something both myself & other victims must remember: A NO IS ALWAYS A NO – if force is used then it is NEVER your fault.
In order to take this next step into acceptance, one of the things I would like to do is give back to Rape Crisis and help them to raise money so that they can continue to help other victims of sexual assault.
Any help or support that you are able to offer would be greatly appreciated both by myself and the whole team at Rape Crisis - any amount you are able to give, whether it is big or small, would be greatly appreciated and will make this challenge even more worthwhile.
Please share with anyone you think would like to donate.
