Story
For the month of August, the entire Search Seven team will
each be walking 100 miles in aid of our chosen charities, including a half marathon in London on 9th August 2022.
After experiencing loss through suicide, my eyes were opened to the widespread mental health issues among young people in our communities and how much work there is to be done to better support them.
With this in mind I have chosen to support The Lucy Rayner Foundation as my #S7100 charity because I believe that the work they are doing in this area is necessary and helps to save lives.
The Lucy Rayner Foundation are a family-run charity working to facilitate change in the way mental health is perceived by society.
Their mission is to raise awareness for the signs and symptoms of depression and the mental health challenges faced by young people, whilst also offering help to those currently in need of support.
With over 50 counsellors around Surrey, they give support to those who need it without the long waiting lists, acting as a bridge between young people and NHS services which are currently struggling to keep up with the demand for access. They also run support groups, educate people in schools, colleges, and workplaces, and provide suicide bereavement support for families who have sadly experienced the loss of a loved one.
I look forward to supporting The Lucy Rayner Foundation during our #S7100 Campaign and beyond.
