Story

Forgotten Women has identified a great safety and security concerns within the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox Bazar, Bangladesh. Traffickers are targeting and exploiting vulnerable people, in particular women. Women are being lured into dangerous situations with false promises of work and a better life. Once groomed they will be sold into brothels with very little chance of returning alive. Nearly a million refugees live in the camps. The dire conditions, misery and lack of opportunities make the people easy prey for traffickers.

Nearly a million refugees live in the camps. The dire conditions, misery and lack of opportunities make women easy prey for traffickers. Forgotten women are tackling the issue of trafficking by setting up a ‘Anti-Trafficking Centre’ for women which will give them a voice, provide information, community support, referral services and psycho-social counselling. one of its most important roles will be to raise awareness and educate these women about the dangers.
