Story

Hello kind and generous people!

No idea what came over me because for long time thought anyone who ran a marathon was crackers and putting an enormous unnecessary strain on their bodies and probably said that to quite a few people who've run marathons but maybe I was secretly impressed and in awe and gearing myself up for the day I would take up the challenge! Well it's now :)

So complete with a hopelessly weak ankle from falling over in a pair of five inch canary yellow towering heels at Seamus's birthday 4 years ago I've still decided to set myself the challenge of running the Dublin Marathon in October this year and raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society in the process because my family has been personally affected.

I'm daunted by the distance and also by the time I'm having to find to train amidst all the other things in my life, singing, writing, riding horses but I'm serious about attaining this goal and raising money too.

I've picked Ireland to run my first  and only ever marathon because the course is quite flat apparently (ha ha) and I'm looking forward to the support of the Irish on the streets to get me through. My friend Heather Finlay is also running but she's on her fourth so I expect I won't see much of her!

My aim is to get through injury free and smiling. Anyone who would like to suggest uptempo tunes to help me train too is an absolute star and much appreciated!  And any moral support that can be spared is great because I'm not really built for long distance I think I'm more of a short sharp sprinter type.

Also sports bras recommendations much appreciated.

If you're able to donate I'd be so grateful whatever the amount.  This is my first solo charity fund-raising mission. I will be blogging and tweeting frequently.

Today is a training today and here are my current thoughts "how can I get to the front door without saying hello to the fridge? Do I REALLY have to do all those Pilates stretches that I was shown GAH"

It's a real shame I didn't heed the Pilates stretches because I've currently got a sprained ankle YOUCHHHH

THANK YOU!
