Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I hope you don’t mind me briefly sharing with you an event that is coming up on May 3rd. Co-Orch are performing in the Complex, Dublin and their charity partner for the gig is ARCO!
For those who I haven’t seen in way too long, or who’s ear I haven’t bent about it, ARCO is a project Peggy and I have been involved with for the last three years which partners students and staff of Birmingham Conservatoire with 24 brilliant young string players in Soweto, South Africa. We have been providing instruments, equipment, resources and scholarship opportunities to the students but most importantly we give them Skype lessons, we travel over to them several a year for intensive weeks of work, we provide teacher training to the wonderful team of teachers on the ground in Soweto and more recently we have had exchange projects where some of the students have come to our side of the world to attend courses and residencies on scholarships that we have sourced.
This project has been one of most wonderful endeavours I have had the privilege of working on. The students are all accomplishing quite amazing things. It is hugely time and energy consuming and a constant challenge to maintain funding with our very small team so we are so thrilled to have the support of Co-Orch for this occasion.
For anyone who would like to come to the concert, here is a link to buy tickets: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/co-orch-its-all-about-the-bass-tickets-45131762316
Co-Orch has also managed to secure corporate matching for every money raised so it would be great if we could sell a million tickets!
I have created this page because a few people have said that they can’t make the concert, but would like to donate to support the work that we do.
Thanks so much for reading this. Please do feel free to share details of the event as widely as you like.
Huge thanks from me, Peggy and Co-Orch
