In April I’ll be taking on the 26.2 miles that is the London Marathon. 😬😬😬
I’ve decided to run for ‘Nacoa’, the National Association for Children of Alcoholics.
This charity provides vital support to children and adults that have an alcoholic parent.
Growing up, I have witnessed my lovely mum desperately battle addiction, and the completely devastating effect it has had on her and our family.
It’s hard to put into words just what impact growing up with an alcoholic parent has on a child. The effects of growing up around alcoholism are so profound that they last a lifetime.
The stigma still surrounding poor mental health and addiction needs to change and that will only happen if people speak out and share their experiences.
It would mean so so much if you could dig deep and donate anything you can.
The support that Nacoa can provide to both children and adults alike is absolutely vital.
Every penny will help provide that crucial lifeline for someone that may not have anyone else to turn to.
Thank you so much ❤️
Nacoa (The National Association for Children of Alcoholics) is a Bristol based charity founded in 1990 to provide help and support for everyone affected by a parent’s drinking. We believe that every child has the right to a happy childhood and to live a creative and meaningful life but when drink is the family secret they are more likely to experience family violence, neglect and other problems in their own homes.
