Story
Three years ago life was very different. On the 4th April 2018 my darling Daddy ended his own life. In the aftermath of trying to make sense where there was no sense, this amazing charity gave me some safe space and support. The sensitive and empathic help of the local group helped me to begin to rebuild and remind me of the need to be kind to myself. I used to think that no-one should have to go through the kind of pain that suicide brings; I still wish fervently that there was no need for such services. However, the last three years and the last year in particular have taught me that if you're going through hell you needn't make that journey alone. So I'm taking part in this April fundraiser '30 miles in 30 days' because tragically, the need for this charity has never been greater. If you are able to make a small donation it would be appreciated. I won't stop at 30 miles though - I intend to match the amount raised with the number of miles I move (it might take a bit longer though!) Thank you. My love to you all. Xxxx
EDIT: Your amazing generosity meant that at 24 hours we had raised £515. At that point I realised that I needed to make a call otherwise I wouldn't be doing anything but exercise. So between April and the end of June my target is to walk, run, skip or bounce 515 miles, the distance from Oakham to the Shetland Isles (so the Internet says). Any more cash than that is wonderful and if I'm able to fulfill my target in less time my family will be grateful!
I will post progress updates from time to time. The need to raise awareness of this fantastic charity's work goes hand-in-hand with the necessity to work towards the prevention of suicide.
