Story
This September I will be working in Kenya for ten days with the charity Sand Dams Worldwide and local partners and communities to build dams that will provide safe, clean water for life closer to people's homes. These dams will support local economies, build resilience to climate change, address local biodiversity loss, and create essential food security.
Sand Dams Worldwide have already given 1.1 million people access to clean water for life since 2002 through this sustainable development project and have received many awards for their inspiring work. For example, in 2021, they were the winners at the Charity Awards in the International Aid and Development category, and in 2019 were awarded the ‘Charity of the Year: with an income of £1 million - £10 million’ in the Charity Times Award.
I truly believe in and support this charity and feel honoured to take part in this physical expedition to help fight water poverty. I will be paying my own money to take part but I would also like to fundraise a £500 contribution directly for the larger work of the charity.
Any donations to this amazing charity would be greatly appreciated :)
To help raise funds I will also be challenging myself to run a half marathon in August (eeek!) as I have never completed even close to this distance and wanted to push myself for this cause.
Thank you for taking the time to read and I hope you consider donating!
I have linked the charity below if you are interested in learning more about the inspiring work they are leading.
