Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page :)
On the 5th of November 2009, my dad was sadly diagnosed with incurable throat cancer and was only given months to live. This devastating news turned our lives upside down.
After having a tracheostomy and PEG, he was given chemotherapy and radiotherapy to prolong his life. As a family, we looked after him at home until his condition deteriated and was admitted to Barnsley hospital. Several days later, he was transferred to Barnsley hospice.
Family and close friends surrounded his bedside. We held his hand and told him how much he was loved. We spoke of holidays, drunken times and his service in the army :')
On the 12th of March 2010, my dad died peacefully.
The hospice is a charity that is very close to my heart. It provides specialist palliative care and support to hundreds of local people and their families each year. It costs over £9k per day to run the hospice. It receives £1.6m from the NHS each year but they have to raise an additional £2m to stay open. We can help!
Not only do I get to raise money for a great cause by skydiving, I also get to be a little closer to my dad
